Increasing fitness level. In this day and age, most if not all major ailments are lifestyle related. Heart disease and diabetes are today more common than common cold, and not many of us are lucky enough to avoid these health evils. Young twenty somethings today are afflicted by chronic back problems, sciatica, spondylosis, migraines, fibromyalgia and a number of immune system related diseases because of unhealthy, sedentary lifestyles and low fitness levels. Improving your fitness level not only decreases the risk of disease, it improves overall energy, immunity and quality of life. No matter what your age, enhancing your overall fitness level will make you healthier, fitter and younger.
If you have been leading a sedentary lifestyle, then enhancing your fitness level will be tougher than if you have been living actively. Even if exercise is not a part of your life, you might have high fitness levels if you lead a life that is full of activity. Simple chores like cleaning the house, scrubbing the floor, lifting your shopping bags, taking the kids to the park or running up and down the stairs while at home contribute effectively towards keeping one fit. However, adding a little bit of organized exercise to a schedule that includes all of the above chores can go a long way in making your body fitter and healthier.
Incorporating exercise to improve fitness. For those who live a more sedentary life, incorporating exercise into the daily routine is something that should be undertaken with immediate effect. Even if you feel that you cannot start exercising for 30 to 40 minutes every day all of a sudden, then take to it gradually. Start with just ten to fifteen minutes of exercise each day or break down your exercise regimen into two to three slots of ten minutes each. This would help you adjust to the changes in your life without making exercise something difficult to deal with.
Get higher fitness levels. To achieve high fitness levels through exercise, and for overall improved health, experts recommend a combination of stretching, cardio and strength based exercises. There are a lot of options to choose from in each case, so make sure that you select exercise methods and regimens that you like. If you like dancing more than jogging, then take up dancing instead of hitting the treadmill for exercise. You will feel both mentally and physically rejuvenated by selecting exercise forms that you like and enjoy.
And last but not the least; it pays to remember that food plays an important part in making your fit. Eating saturated fats and sugars and running for two hours every day will never make you as fit as eating a healthy balanced diet with 40 minutes of exercise will. So make sure that you make a conscious effort to reduce saturated fats, sugars, refined flour and high sodium processed foods from your diet and add extra servings of fruits and vegetables. This combination of a balanced, healthy diet and exercise will enhance your overall fitness level for good and keep you healthy and disease free.
